Dua Lipa, an English performer and songwriter, was born in London on 22 August 1995. After being a model for a fashion magazine and songwriter, she was able to sign with Warner Bros Records and release her debut album. It peaked at number third on the U.K. Albums Chart and produced eight singles including Be the One I.D.G.A.F as well as The U.K. number-one single New Rules that peaked at the top of the charts, number 6 in the United States. Lipa received The Brit Awards in 2018 for British Female Solo Artist and British Breakthrough Act, and her album was certified platinum across several countries around the world. Dua Lipa was is the daughter of Kosovo Albanian parents Anesa A Rexha Lipa and Dukagjin Dukagjin in London on August 22, 1995. She has Bosnian descendance by her maternal grandmother. Her family tree can be tracked back to the Kosovo cities of Peja. Two of Lipa's grandfathers are historians. She is a sister to Rina Lipa. She also has a younger brother named Gjin. Lipa was influenced musically by her father, who was the lead singer and guitarist of the Kosovan rock group Oda. The family she lived in, where Lipa's father was still playing music. He would play his compositions and songs from David Bowie Bob Dylan Radiohead Stereophonics The Police. Lipa started to sing at the age of five years old. at the age of nine she began singing in Sylvia Young Theater School. Lipa has covered songs like If I'm Not Got You and Beautiful Christina Aguilera's songs on YouTube. Lipa's record contract with Warner Bros. Records was made in the year 2014. She released her first single New Love in August of 2015.
