Andrea Jeremiah

Andrea Maria Jeremiah is an Indian actor, playback vocalist and a musician who works predominantly in Tamil and Malayalam movies that are based on the Tamil language. Her first appearance as an actor was in the Tamil film Pachaikili Muthucharam, and her Malayalam debut with Annayum is in the film. Andrea Jeremiah grew up in an Anglo-Indian family in Arakkonam Tamil Nadu. Andrea's father was a Madras High Court lawyer. She has one younger sister that lives in Leuven Belgium as an assistant to research. Jeremiah was raised near Chennai and attended National Public School and graduated from Women's Christian College. Andrea started in piano class at eight years old, was classified as an "geek" and wanted to become a psychiatric until her 12th grade board exam. In her twenties, she became involved in the group called the Jackson Five Young Stars which formed the foundation of her recording and composing music career. She also was a theatre performer in the college she attended and performed in a variety of stage plays organised by The Madras Players and EVAM. Andrea was President of the Student Senate at Women's Christian College. Andrea started her career acting in the theatre, with Girish Karanad's Nagamandala. In 2006, she starred in a new leo advertisement with actor Shiva. Also, she was a part of one of the shows that was relayed on Podhigai channel. She has performed all over India. She had a short role in the finale of Kanda Naal Mudhal (2005). After she rendered a song in Gautham Vasudev Menon's Vettaiyaadu he asked her to play the main female characters in his next venture Pachaikili Muthucharam. This film was a film adaptation of the novel by James Siegel Derailed with Andrea as Kalyani who is a housewife whose husband gets involved in an affair, which leads to her being blackmailed. Andrea was picked for the role following actresses Simran Shobana and Tabu were offered the role. The movie was announced in the early part of the year 2010. It was announced in the year 2011 that she would take on a small character in Venkatprabhu's multi-starrer Mankatha that was came out in August 2011. Annayum Rasoolum, a romantic film by Rajeev ravi which was released in 2013, was her Malayalam debut.
